BAC Colin Crothers winner of the Angler of the Year 2018

After another great competition programme, which included over 20 individual competitions fished at Corbet Lough, the River Bann and Lough Lene, Colin Crothers has taken the prestigious accolade of Adult Angler of the Year 2018. Colin finished 2nd last year by the narrowest of margins but he ensured that this would not happen this year as he won the title back in September. This is the second occasion when Colin has won the Adult Angler of the Year title. His previous success was in 2011. Colin won competitions at Corbet and on the River Bann. He has been one of the Club’s most consistent competition anglers over the last decade.

Imogen Johnston has taken the accolade of Juvenile Angler of the Year for 2018. Imogen, who won the Club’s inaugural Junior Angler of the Year title back in 2014 has created a lot of Club history this year. She is the first female angler to win the prestigious Juvenile Angler of the Year title and she is also the first angler to win both the Club’s Junior and Juvenile Angler of the Year titles. Imogen is from great angling stock being related to renowned anglers Henry McKnight, John Johnston and Malcolm Wing. You can see that they all have had a great influence upon Imogen. She is very comfortable and competent at all methods of fishing and simply considers the conditions and uses the best method to suit. Imogen is also a very competent fly tyer and regularly attends the Club’s fly tying class. This is another great achievement for Imogen.

Niall Tumelty won the title of Junior Angler of the Year 2018. Niall has caught some great fish at the Corbet over the past couple of years. He was mentored by Frank Tumelty in these competitions. I have no doubt that Niall can win many more competitions at the Corbet over the coming years. This is a great achievement for Niall and we look forward to seeing him back at the Corbet next year.

Congratulations to Colin, Imogen and  Niall on their fantastic achievement in 2018.
