BAC Geoff Hylands World Cup Winner 2017 – Lough Mask 7 August 2017

It is that time of the year again when the competition fly fishers attention turns to ‘The World Cup’. The competition, which was fished on Lough Mask over the weekend 1st to 5th August 2019, attracts about 500 of the best competition fly fishers from around the world. A big number of the Club’s anglers made the annual pilgrimage to Mask to pit their fly fishing skills against the best competition fly fishers. The latest news is that a number of the local anglers have qualified to fish in the final. In Heat 2 on Friday 2nd August Stephen Clarke qualified for the final in a very credible 7th position with 2 fish. In Heat 4 on Sunday 4th August Wilson Clinghan qualified for the final in a great 6th position with 3 fish. Ivan McVeigh, Freddy Steele and Eugene Curran also qualified for the final from Heat 4. Unfortunately the final which was scheduled for Monday 5th August had to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions. The final has been further postponed, again due to an adverse weather forecast, until Sunday 1 September 2019. The Club wishes the local anglers a safe, enjoyable and successful final. Hopefully one of them will bring the ‘big Cup’ back to the Banbridge area again.
