Fishing Report – March 2020

BAC – Wilson Clinghan caught this nice 2lb Brownie at Corbet Lough on Tuesday 3 March 2020

On Sunday 1 March 2020 Roger McClements fished the fly at the Corbet Lough and took a few fish during the afternoon. On Monday 2 March Henry McKnight fished at the Corbet during the afternoon and he had 3 good fish up to 3lbs. On Tuesday 3 March Wilson Clinghan took 2 nice fish, including a cracking brownie of about 2lbs during the morning. On Saturday 7 March the Club’s adult competition anglers fished at the Corbet Lough for the Bobby Blakley Cup in the first competition of the new season. Martin Dynes took the Cup with a nice brace of fish weighing 5.374lbs. Roger McClements was 2nd with a another good bag of fish weighing over 5lbs and Davy McCandless was in 3rd place with the best fish of the day weighing 3.355lbs. The Club’s juvenile anglers fished for the McComb Cup. Patrick Curran, the current Juvenile Angler of the Year took the Cup with a great bag of fish weighing 3.082lbs. Sam Curran took 2nd place with a nice bag of fish weighing 2.407lbs. On Sunday 15 March Roger McClements had a great afternoon’s fly fishing at the Corbet. He took 4 beautiful fish, two of about 3lbs, one at 3lbs 8ozs and the best at 4lbs. Over the weekend 20-23 March Leonard Ervine also had some good fishing on the Corbet Lough. He took six fish on the fly in one session and a nice Rainbow of about 5lbs also on the fly during another session.

On 24 March 2020 in response to the latest advice from the Government, the Public Health Agency and the ABC Council with regard to COVID-19 the Club temporarily suspended all fishing at Corbet Lough with immediate effect until further notice. At this time the health of our members, employees and their families is the most important issue. Please take care and stay safe.
