COVID-19 – Take 5 during times of Isolation

ABC Council has issued the following advice.

While we are all going through some sort of isolation at this present moment we all need to look after our mental health just the same as everybody looks after their physical health. There are times when things can get on top of us and affect our mental health. It is estimated that one in four people in Northern Ireland will have a mental health problem at some point in their lives.

Sometimes it can be the simplest things that can help improve our mental health and build protective factors into our lives. There are five steps we can all take to improve our mental wellbeing.  Try to build these into your daily life – think of them as your ‘five a day’ for wellbeing.

1.     Connect with the people around you

2.     Be active – walk, cycle, run or play

3.     Take notice of the world around you

4.     Keep learning or try something new

5.     Give – do something nice for someone else
