In light of the NI Executive’s latest COVID-19 restrictions announced on Thursday 20 August 2020 the following event is postponed until further notice. Please see the Club’s statement released on Saturday 22 August 2020 for full details.

Banbridge Angling Club is delighted to confirm that its annual Juvenile and Junior Prize Distribution Evening will be held outdoors at the Corbet Lough on Thursday 27 August 2020 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, subject to any current COVID-19 restrictions. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the event will consist of just the prize distribution and light refreshments. Everyone attending must comply with the NI Executives current COVID-19 guidelines.

In the Juvenile category Patrick Curran took the accolade of Juvenile Angler of the Year 2019. Although Patrick has previously been placed in the Angler of the Year competitions, winning a lot of individual competitions, this is the first occasion when he has been the Angler of the Year. Patrick had a great season in 2019 catching some fantastic fish at the Corbet Lough. He also enjoyed another great first in 2019 when he caught a great Brown Trout on the mayfly at the magicial Lough Sheelin. Patrick is a great young fly fisherman and he is now following in his father Joe’s footsteps. Joe was the first Juvenile Angler of the Year back in 1977 and he retained the title in 1978. Patrick is also a very competent fly tyer and regularly attends the Club’s fly tying class.

Niall Tumelty retained the title of Junior Angler of the Year for 2019. Although there was limited competition in this category Niall still had to participate and catch the fish. He was mentored by his gran uncle Frank Tumelty in these competitions.

The Club is sure that many anglers and family members will attend this event to support Patrick, Niall and all the Juvenile and Junior anglers.
