The 41st Lough Melvin Open was held over the period 25 August – 29 August attracting hundreds of anglers from home and abroad. The conditions were mostly bright and hot throughout and the fishing was very challenging but still enjoyable. A number of local anglers made the journey to Co Fermanagh to fish in the competition and it is great to be able to report of some local success. Sam Grant from Portadown, one of the Club’s top competition anglers, finished in a very credible 11th position. Another local angler Trevor McClearn from Dromore took 1st place and the fanstastic prize of a new fishing boat. Trevor, who is the brother of Donald ‘Dabbler’ McClearn, is a vastly experienced and skilful angler. He had had some great catches on Lough Melvin earlier in the season and this win is thoroughly deserved. Congratulations to Trevor and Sam.
