It was a cold and windy day but the anglers still had some fantastic fish at the weigh-in. Len Murray won the Cup with a great fish weighing 5lbs 4ozs. Frank Kearney and Geoff Hylands were 2nd and 3rd respectively. Len has had a great start to this season\u2019s competitions and this is second victory. On Monday 6 April the Club\u2019s adult competition anglers fished a catch and release competition on the River Bann for the Linda McCandless Cup. At the end of a very close competition, Geoff Hylands won the Cup with a lovely wild Brown Trout measuring 38cm. Trevor Jones and Brian Russell were 2nd and 3rd respectively. Dr Jacqueline Rippington attended the results ceremony and presented her late mother\u2019s cup to the winner, Geoff Hylands. The boat fishing at the Corbet Lough has been challenging. On Thursday 9 April there were three boats out. Stevie Rea and Lance McCarthy had 9 fish to the boat including a Rainbow of 7lbs and another one of 6.2lbs. Tom King and Gerard Lyness had 8 fish, including 3 lovely Brown Trout, to the boat. On Saturday 18 April the Club\u2019s competition anglers were at Lough Lene, Co Westmeath fishing a boat fishing competition for the AIB Cup. All the fish caught were returned unharmed. Joe Curran won the competition with 5 fish, Geoff Hylands was 2nd with 4 fish and Sam Watt was 3rd with 3 fish. Back at the Corbet Lough Woodburn Anglers held a boat fishing outing. All the anglers reported catching fish with the best catch 8 fish and the best fish weighing 7lbs. David McCreedy and James McCreedy were out boat fishing for a few hours. David had 6 fish and James had 8 fish to the boat. The anglers fly fishing from the shore also reported catching. Gary Chivers had 5 fish, Roger McClements had 4 fish and Leonard Ervine and Paul McKinstry had fish up in the top bay. On Thursday 23 April Stevie Rea was boat fishing at the Corbet and he had 14 fish with 3 weighing over 5lbs. All the fish were returned unharmed. Gerard Lyness and Tom King had 12 fish to the boat on buzzers and diawl bachs. Wilson Clinghan had 3 fish to the boat. On Friday 24 April Lenny Murray and Martin Hawkins were boat fishing at the Corbet and they had 16 fish between them. Stevie Rea had 4 fish to the boat with one fish weighing 6lbs. Roy Blake had 3 fish to the boat. Sean and Pat Magee had 3 fish to the boat. This was Sean\u2019s last fishing locally before heading off to Montana. Safe travels Sean and tight lines in Montana, if you get the chance to throw a line. On Saturday 25 April Stevey McArdle and Jim Kennedy had 4 fish to the boat including a Rainbow of over 5lbs and a couple of others around 3lbs. Marty Magee had 2 fish to the boat including a 6lbs Ranbow. Mark and Roy Neil had a fish over 5lbs to the boat. On Sunday 26 April David McQuade and Peter Martelli had 19 fish, including a couple over 5lbs, to the boat. All the fish were returned unharmed. Philip Rankin had 3 fish on a pheasant tail nymph to the boat. On Thursday 30 April Steve Rea and Martin Allen were the top boat on the Corbet Lough with 16 fish between them. Gerard Lyness and Tom King had 13 fish to the boat. Roy Blake had 6 fish. Lenny Ervine and Derek Burns had 4 fish to the boat. Les Patton had 2 fish. The anglers reported catching some nice fish over 3lbs and a few good Browns. The River Bann is also fishing well to the fly at this time.
