Banbridge Angling Club held its 2025 Prize Distribution Evening at the Corbet Lough on Wednesday 20 May 2026. There was a great turn out of the Club’s competition prize winners, supporting anglers and friends. Sam Watt, Club Chairman and Brendan Downey undertook the presentations on the evening.
Sam presented the prizes to all the anglers with the key presentation being to Roger McClements, Adult Angler of the Year 2025. This was the seventh occasion that Roger has won the Angler of the Year accolode.
In the Juvenile section of the Angler of the Year competition there was a few anglers fishing the competition scene for the first time. At the end of the season the final result was very close between Jacob Heslip and Louis Clarke both finishing on 6 points. Jacob who only started fishing the Club’s competitions this season won the Juvenile Anger of the Year 2025 title on the basis of a count back of the weight of the fish caught.
The Club’s junior competitions were primarly fished over the summer months. Elijah Park once again took the accolade of Junior Angler of the Year 2025 after winning the Percy Trophy, the Dr Cocks Shield and the Marin Dynes Cup. This is the fifth occasion that Elijah has won the Junior Angler of the Year accolade.
After the presentations everyone was treated to a great BBQ supper which was prepared and served up by Geoff Hylands, Damian Murtagh and Joe Curran.
Congratulations to Roger, Jacob and Elijah on their great success in 2025. Thanks to Geoff, Damian and Joe for the BBQ and to everyone who turned up for the Prize Distribution Evening. Again special thanks to Damian Murtagh, Competition Secretary who organises the Club’s Adult, Juvenile and Junior competitions throughout the angling season. Thank you also to all the anglers who continue to turn out to the different competitions. We would love to see many more young anglers coming along to the competitions.
