
On Friday 3 May Stevie Ferris and Marty Bush enjoyed a good boat fishing session at the Corbet Lough taking 5 fish between them. On Monday 6 May the Club’s competition anglers fished the Corbet Lough for the Jos Willis Cup. At the weigh-in Roger McClements won the Cup with a great brace of fish. Keith Gibson and Marty Bush were 2nd and 3rd respectively. On Saturday 11 May the Club’s competition anglers travelled to Lough Sheelin, Co Cavan to fish for the Straghan Cup. The weather was bright and sunny but there was a good wave on the Lough. Although this lead to challenging fishing all the anglers had a great day and enjoyed the experience. Indeed they all either caught fish or hooked and lost fish. At the weigh-in Andy Holden won the Straghan Cup. Joe Curran and Sam Watt were 2nd and 3rd respectively. There have been some good evening rises at the Corbet during the past couple of weeks and George Gallagher, Leonard Ervine, Geoff Hylands, Dessy Graham and Marty Bush have all been catching good fish on dries. On Saturday 25 May the Silver Butchers held a boat fishing outing at the Corbet Lough. They had a great day’s fishing with over 100 fish up to 6lbs between them. The Club’s competition anglers were at the Corbet Lough for an evening competition for the Patsy McGivern Shield. At the weigh-in Roger McClements won the Shield with Colin Crothers and Noel Burns 2nd and 3rd respectively. On Monday 27 May Derek Curran and his son were out boat fishing for a couple of hours in the afternoon and they had 5 nice fish between them. Daryl Alexander and Dessy Graham were out boat fishing in the evening and they had 10 good fish between them. Seamus Doyle was spinning from the shore and he caught 6 lovely fish up to 4lbs. Leonard Ervine was fly fishing on the Banbridge shore and he had 3 great fish up to 5lbs. On Thursday 30 May there was a fresh north westerly breeze on the Corbet and it felt a little colder. Stevie Rea and Mark Douglas were out for a boat session and they had 16 fish between them. Gerard Lyness and Tom King were also out and they had 12 fish between them to the boat. Les Patton and Neil McAdam were out boat fishing in the afternoon and they had 6 fish between them. Brendan Downey was fly fishing from the shore and he had 9 fish up to about 4lbs.
