BAC – Beautiful wild Brown Trout caught and released by Adrian Round on the River Bann on 12 August 2024

The fishing at the Corbet Lough is challenging with some algae on the Lough, bright sunshine and the temperature being warmer than normal for this time of the year. As a consequence the fish are very lethargic and not feeding. However on Thursday 5 September David McKeague and David Dowey were at the Corbet Lough and they both reported catching fish on the worm. Willie Cochrane was out at the Corbet on Sunday 15 September for a few hours during the morning. He was fly fishing from the shore in the top bay and he caught a beautiful clean Rainbow of between 3.5lbs and 4lbs. On Saturday 21 September the Club’s adult competition anglers were at the Corbet Lough to fish for the Hanlon Cup. It was a hard day’s fishing with only two anglers having fish for the weigh-in. At the weigh-in Keith Brown won the Hanlon Cup with Trevor Jones 2nd. On Sunday 22 September Stevie Clarke took a boat fishing session at the Corbet Lough. Stevie fished deep and he caught 6 fish. He reported that the fish were in generally poor condition. On Monday 30 September Wilson Clinghan was fishing the Corbet from the shore and he caught 8 fish up to about 4lbs. He reported that the Lough fished well and that the fish were generally clean.
