BAC – On Tuesday 8 July Eugene Curran and Brendan Downey from BAC present a cheque for £500 to Cancer Focus NI from monies raised by the sale of Joe McCandless’ bird seed at the Corbet Lough during the 2024 season.

On Tuesday 8 July Eugene Curran and Brendan Downey representing Banbridge Angling Club made a presentation of £500 to Eoin Caughey, Community Fundraising Officer at Cancer Focus Northern Ireland. These funds were raised by the Club’s President Joe McCandless through the sale of bird seed at the Corbet Lough. Joe has been providing and bagging the bird seed for sale at the Boat Attendants Office at the Corbet Lough for a number of years now and each year he makes a very generous donation to a local cancer charity in memory of his wife Linda. The Club is very grateful to Joe, our Boat Attendants at the Corbet Lough for facilitating the sale of the bird seed and the anglers and general public who generously donate/purchase Joe’s bird seed to feed the swans and ducks at the Corbet Lough. Eoin explained that Cancer Focus Northern Ireland is dependant on the funding raised by members of the public. Last year Cancer Focus, through its cancer support services, were there for over 4,000 local people and families. Also on 2 May 2025 Cancer Focus opened its first Nurse-led Therapeutic Cancer Support Centre in Enniskillen. All funds raised in Northern Ireland are used in Northern Ireland to support people afected by cancer.
