After another fantastic competition programme Martin Dynes, Competition Secretary has declared that Wilson ‘Skippy’ Clinghan has taken the prestigious accolade of Adult Angler of the Year 2016. Although Wilson was slow out of the blocks this season he fished hard and he never gave up. In the second half of the season he consistently picked up competition points and in the end he just pipped Roger McClements to the title by a single point. In taking this year’s title Wilson has now won the Adult Angler of the Year title for a record sixth occasion during a period spanning over 25 years. He previously won the title in 1990, 1994, 1998, 2009 and 2013. Wilson is an exceptional competition angler. He is the Real Madrid of the Club’s competition scene. The above photograph shows Wilson with a fantastic Rainbow Trout of 5lbs which he caught at Corbet Lough back in April 2013.

Daniel Moore won the title of Juvenile Angler of the Year 2016 at Corbet Lough on 22 October 2016 in real style when he won the McComb Cup with a fantastic Rainbow Trout weighing 5lbs 8ozs. Daniel is an affable young boy who really enjoys fishing and everything to do with fishing. He is a prodigy of Martin Dynes’ junior competition programme for young anglers under 13 years. He has benefited from Martin’s tuition and encouragement and he has now taken the title of Juvenile Angler of the Year 2016 at a very young age. Daniel attends most of the Club’s junior and juvenile competitions. He is a very good young angler and also a very keen fly tyer.

Junior angler Adam Morrow is the Junior Angler of the Year 2016. Adam is another prodigy of Martin Dynes’ junior angler competition programme. He is an enthusiastic young angler who fished the Club’s junior competitions at Corbet Lough under the watchful eye and guidance of his father. He really enjoys fishing and he caught a number of good fish over the summer months. He is fully deserving of the title of Junior Angler of the Year 2016. I have no doubt that Adam will be winning many more fishing competitions in the future.

Congratulations to Wilson, Daniel and Adam on a very successful 2016 season..

The Club thanks Martin Dynes, Competition Secretary and his assistants on running another great competition programme during 2016. Martin also thanks all the anglers who supported him and the competitions throughout the season.
