BAC Andrew Rea qualifies for the Ireland Fly Fishing Team at Lough Lein on 9 June 2018

On Saturday 9 June 2018 Banbridge Angling Club angler Andrew Rea was competing in the Irish Trout and Fly Fishing Association (I.T.F.F.A.) National Final Qualifier on Lough Lein, Killarney against 127 of Ireland’s top competition fly fishermen for a place on Ireland’s Lough Fly Fishing team. The Club was delighted to hear that Andrew was 6th in the competition with 10 fish, including two keepers. This result qualified Andrew for the Ireland team and he will now be fishing for Ireland against England, Scotland and Wales. Andrew is a highly skilled fly fisherman. In 2014 he represented Ireland as a Youth International and was very successful in fishing against England, Scotland and Wales. Andrew has now achieved great distinction by qualifing to represent Ireland at both youth and senior international level. Andrew is a very affable young man and a great ambassador for Banbridge Angling Club and the Banbridge district. The Club congratulates Andrew on his tremendous success and wishes him every success when he fishes in the internationals. The photograph shows Andrew with a nice Sea Trout taken on the fly.
