The fishing at the Corbet Lough has become more challenging since a fish stocking at the end of August. This is a common occurrence after a fish stocking but hopefully the fishing will pick up again very soon. On Saturday 3 September the Club’s Junior competition anglers fished at the Corbet Lough for the Corbet Junior Cup. Elijah Parks won the Cup with a great catch weighing 3lbs 5ozs. During the week commencing 5 September there was some heavy rain which put a good spate down the river bringing up a run of end of season salmon and dollaghan into the Club’s stretch of the river. On Friday 9 September the Corbet was busy with boat angers. The pick of the catches were Stevie Rea and Mark Robinson with 9 fish between them to the boat. Alan Hanna had 5 fish to the boat. Lance McCarthy and Matt Shields had 4 fish between them. Jim McClellend and Gary McFadden also had 4 fish between them. The Club’s next competitions are at the Corbet Lough on Saturday 24 September when the adults will fish for the Toasty Jardine Shield and the juveniles will fish for the Graham Cup.
