BAC – Roger McClements, Adult Angler of the Year 2022 with other competition prize winners at the Adult Prize Distribution Evening at the Corbet Lough on 25 May 2023

The Club held the Adult and Junior 2022 Prize Distribution Evening at the Corbet Lough on Thursday 25 May 2023. It was a lovely evening and there was a very good turn of the Club’s competition prize winners. Unfortunately Damian Murtagh, the Club’s Competition Secretary was unavailable and Sam Watt, Chairman, Joe Curran, Secretay and Eugene Curran, Committee Member stepped in to compere the Evening.

Joe Curran welcomed the Beckett Family to the Corbet for the unveiling of the Corbet Lough AED and plaque in memory of Nigel Beckett. Joe spoke movingly about how much Nigel loved fishing at the Corbet and how he is fondly remembered and greatly missed by his fishing friends. He also stated that the Corbet Lough AED, which is a great benefit to local anglers and the local community, is a very fitting tribute to Nigel.

Sam Watt and Eugene Curran presented the prizes to all the anglers. The key presentations on the evening were to Roger McClements, Adult Angler of the Year 2022 and Elijah Parks, Junior Angler of the Year 2022.

After the presentations everyone was treated to a great BBQ supper which was prepared and served up by Geoff Hylands, Henry McKnight and Angeline Johnston.

Congratulations to Roger and Elijah. Thanks to Geoff, Angeline and Henry for the BBQ and to everyone who turned up for the Prize Distribution Evening. A special thank you to Damian Murtagh, Competition Secretary who organises the Club’s Adult, Juvenile and Junior competitions throughout the angling season. Thank you also to all the anglers who continue to turn out to the different competitions. We would love to see many more young anglers coming along to the competitions. The full details of all the Juvenile and Junior competitions is in the Club’s Competition Sheet 2023.
